Welcome To Somerset Stables

Reinette Te Water Naude, wife of the late Dr Theo Te Water Naude bought this old stable-like building (circa 1856) in 1997 and restored it to its present form. More buildings were added onto the main dwelling in a U shape with a stoep and shutters. A beautiful garden was laid out and is filled with Trees, Roses, Plumbago, Lavender, Bougainvillea, Evening Primrose, Hibiscus, Flowers, Herbs etc, and it is frequently visited by Birds, Bees, Butterflies and Cameleons etc. Enjoy the smell of Jasmine while sitting on the stoep. The garden has a stunning view of the mountain going up to the Valley of Desolation. Enjoy the Karoo night sky filled with stars that makes you think of God's Personal Jewellery Box!
